Currano Scholarship Fund

The Bearded Lady Project: Currano Scholarship Fund, named after project co-founder and paleontologist Dr. Ellen Currano, was founded in 2017.  In 2014 our founding team, made up of artists and scientists, set out to create The Bearded Lady Project that would simultaneously support women pursuing a career in field science and ignite a conversation about the harmful stereotypes that dictate who can and cannot succeed as a paleontologist. Our intention was also to develop a scholarship program to support and encourage women who are interested in pursuing a career in the geosciences.

Working in cooperation with the Paleontological Society, the Currano Scholarship Fund is awarded as part of the annual Student Research Grants competition. Any student applying for the Paleontological Society Student Research Grant who identifies as female will be considered for this scholarship. For information visit paleosoc.org.
